Bendigedig (blessed)

by Jem Croucher
My lovely wife, my children
My dogs both near and far
My music and my poetry
My lovely 'Duster' car
My beach hut by the lovely sea
My allotment down the road
My garden and my lavender
My Shoreham town abode
My health and my abundance
My happiness, my zest
My joie de vivre, my total joy
My bendigedig, the blessed

Blessed and content

by Jem Croucher

It doesn’t take much

in fact not much at all

to make something feel

quite so wonderful

So out here in the sun

I am blessed and content

summed up in a moment

and every word meant

THE FIRST SUNRISE OF JANUARY

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

The First Sunrise Of January
Always Leaves Me Wondering
What Lies Ahead
Just Out Of Sight
Over The Horizon
In My Tomorrows

And Then It Leads My
Mind Back Over The
Last Year And
Way Back When Too

Recalling
Moments And Memories
And What If’s And
Might Have Beens

Things That Never Were
But Could Have Been
And The Happiness
That Was And
The Blessings
That I Have

Regrets
And Bittersweet
Memories Escape
Their Cell

Deep In My Heart
On The First
Sunrise Of January
Before Being
Escorted Away

Sometimes The Heart
And Soul
Need To Reflect,
Remember And Wonder,
So They Will Be
More Grateful,
And Happy During
The Coming Year

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The Demarcation,
The Ending And Beginning,
One Year Passing Away Into History
As The New Year Is Born

The First Sunrise Of January
Is The “First Time”
You Get To Make An X
On The New Year’s Calendar

Rain

by Cheryl Birch

rainy-wallpaper7

A smell; a fragrance in the air
A sense, something on its way
A feeling in my bones
A distant sound, barely heard

Pitter pat, pitter pat
A clink, a clang
Tap, tap, tap
Pitter pat, pitter pat

Tires on wet pavement
Rushing winds
Drumming on roof tops
Grass glistening green

The Cost

The Cost

I sometimes find

When I hope so hard

In one direction

I miss several blessings

That are happening

In other directions,

And the cost

Of my blindness

Dreams Dance on Clouds

When God makes a promise to your trusting heart

Believe dreams were placed there at the very start.

It matters not how distant reality seems to be

Dreams dance on clouds of time waiting to be free.

Limerick– “Cook and Baker”

by Caddo

I know a round cook and baker–
She’s good of heart, no mere faker.
What she makes, she gives away–
Loves to bless people’s day
(Else, she’d be huge as a half-acre).

Aglow

Aglow in gratitude
Thankful for…
…well everything
Enjoying today
And wondering
What blessings
And miracles
Tomorrow
May bring

~ Mamal’s Who Glow ~

by A. L. O'Prunty

They think the birds follow me;

(I allow them to think it so)

My grandbabies, in awe,

At the bay window

They think flowers bloom in my wake;

(I allow them to think it so)

As they follow close behind,

The rows of seed I sow

The Abyss

by russtowne

I know too well what it’s like
To linger on the jagged edge
Of the deep and dark abyss.
I’ve felt its powerful pull
And heard its siren song.
“Give up! Give in!
You can end your pain and shame.
There’s no need to suffer anymore.”
But even during my darkest days
When hope was a distant memory
I knew even then the abyss would lose.
