Beauty

Dubrovnik

Part 1 of 16 in the Jemverse ‘Venetian Vistas’ series

Flew into Dubrovnik
Walked round the city wall
It really was quite beautiful
with plenty to enthral

The views of Adriatic
seas with islands in the bay
was really quite breathtaking
and spectacular I’d say

Right time, right place

In London quite early
(I was up with the lark)
So it’s still very quiet
in St James’ park

And just there by the lake
as I happenchanced by
A picture of heaven
for a smile and a cry

Beauty

Six hundred steps and an ice-cold beer

Part 6 of 20 in ‘The Aegean Shores’ series

Sitting on the harbour wall
with an ice-cold beer
Watching cool blue waters
in Santorini here
I’ve climbed six hundred steps
to Thira at the top
avoiding several donkeys
who looked fed up and hot

FOR ME?

I opened the door
she stood there smiling,
beautiful woman that she is,
with a sense of glee in her voice
she said, “these are for you.”

she stretched out her hand
to offer me a gift
she brought me flowers

Cuckmere Haven

Down at Cuckmere Haven
where the Ouse flows to the sea
the view from high on Haven Brow
is caught spectacularly
As up here with my camera
I pause to take a snap
The view as a reminder
that I am a lucky chap

Last Sunset

And so the final sunset
the best was saved ’til last
It really was a gorgeous one
as I walked slowly past
It cast wide golden washes
upon the silken sea
as the tide crept in a final time
from the estuary

Big Sun

The biggest sun I ever saw
greeted me today
A golden ball of wonder
which took my breath away

Like A Sunflower

Like a sunflower in a sunny field,

she would smile at everyone,

as if every face she met was her sun.

On One Knee

You look at me,
with eyes full of light
Like a hundred windows to your soul
opening so bright.

You smile, and I,
struck with such unparalleled beauty,
cannot but smile at your pretty face
as the sun behind us fades.

Black Swan

Early morning in St James’
A black swan came swimming by
Reflected in the water
as if to beautify
It was a peaceful moment
London slumbered all around
and in the stillness of the hour
I could barely hear a sound

Caterpillar

A caterpillar came a-crawling
through my garden yesterday
So I captured him on video
as he went upon his way
He’ll turn into a Hawk Moth
I am reliably informed
but as they’re simply massive
I’m glad I’ve been forewarned

Beautiful

I am Blessed with Beauty that surpasses all understanding

An Extraordinary and Exquisite gem I am.

Authentic and Unblemished am i meant to be.

Treasured and Irreplaceable am I meant to be.

Mystery Mauves

I don’t know what these flowers are called
though I searched Google for a while
Their mauve is simply glorious
and they certainly bring a smile

Bellis Perennis

Poetry challenge: Tongue Twister poetry

The Bellis Perennis
is a bit of a menace
and is quite fond of tennis
as it looks like a ball

Brassica Napus

Mustard yellow on the hills
and stunning to the eye
Particularly brilliant
when one is passing by

Ruby Red

Last summer I found rubies
They’d been kissed by the sun
They were so beautiful
and second to none
Growing there in abundance
in a meadowland field
A patch of pure treasure
from the sun’s warming yield

Forget me not

I’ll not forget forget-me-not
exquisite, small and blue
For it’s etched there in a memory
never to eschew

Sambucus Nigra

We have a common Elder
‘Black Beauty’ is its name
with purple leaves and pinkish flowers
long may it there remain

White Rose

Delicate white
fold on fold
what mysteries
do your petals hold?

Winter’s smile

 

There’s a crystalline clarity out here today
in the trees there over the way
A ground frost has visited the fields overnight
And it’s more beautiful than I can say

Tranquility II

 

We have a beautiful garden
which is lovely to see
I’m so pleased it is there
for my family and me
It’s a respite for us
throughout the whole year
For just sitting in quiet
or a chat with a beer

The Weald

 

Up on the ridge of the South Downs in Sussex
the view is especially fine
And the good thing for us is that it’s really quite close
So we’re up there time after time
