There’s a cool autumn breeze
but it’s warm in the sun
So I’ve made my way back
to ‘One hundred and one’
Our beach hut haven
here on the beach
on my way home
and within easy reach

Mine’s the only beach hut open
yet the sun is shining bright
The beach is quite resplendent
but there’s no one else in sight

Came down to the beach hut
It was overcast today
But it was still cathartic
looking out to seas of grey
The temperature was balmy
and there was a little blue
So the sunshine would be coming
on a promise, this I knew

Shadow cast on turquoise
I raised a hand and waved
One finger on the shutter
for the photo that I saved

Can I just say, yes one more time
‘This is my favourite place’
As you’ll not find me here
without a smile upon my face

Yes, I know I have written
many times in the past
of this beach and the sea
and it won’t be my last
For this place here in Sussex
I will gravitate to
whenever I can
Well you would, wouldn’t you?

Spent a day at the beach hut
in the bright sun
It’s been renovated and
I’m pleased that it’s done
Painted bright turquoise
to reflect sky and sea
Hut 101 is really
a great place to be

6 of 7 in the Jemverse ‘Beach Huts’ series

Opened up the beach hut
which needs a lick of paint
But it’s still a lovely place to be
All ours and very quaint

The beach huts may be shuttered
and closed for wintertime
But the sunrise ‘cross the sea is
just as equally sublime
as it can be in summer months
much earlier than this
But still tinged with a wonder
which comes quite close to bliss

Took a trip to the beach hut
It’s looking quite good
If you don’t look too close
at the oft patched up wood
The locks opened fine
with some lubricant there
and it doesn’t look like
it needs much repair

The day began with sunshine
so I popped down to the beach
armed with paints and brushes
and a long pole for to reach
the top bit of the beach hut
as it needs a lick of paint
It took me several hours
but a craftsman I just ain’t

Spent the last day of my holiday
at the beach hut by the sea
It was grey down there and windy
but that didn’t bother me
The sun came out from time to time
and there was warmth still in the air
as I sat and watched the kites
on the water surfing there

Dusk at the passing of a very hot day
The beach huts glowing now
Out to the west the orange and gold
sun shadow on my brow
