Under The Spell
Of A Lover’s Moon
Her Heart Was
Once Broken
With The Foolish
Dreams And Lies
Of Youth
And Young Love
She No Longer Cries
For What Was Lost
And Could Have Been
So Long Ago,
Except In The Midnight Light
Of A Lover’s Moon
When Forgotten
Memories Escape
Her Heart And
Invade Her Dreams
She Found
The Strength
Inside Her
Heart And Soul
To Stand Up
To Forgive
To Forget
To Let Go
And To Move On
She Looked Around
And Found
A Different Path
For Her Life
That Is Her Own
The One She Shares
With Her Daughter

I watch my shadow from noon to dusk,
Ever growing in size and lust,
Making me taller than a redwood tree
And stretching the limit of what I can be.
Until the fading sun falls all the way down
And I am beyond the starry lights of town.
Now lost and one with the black nothingness
I am left to mourn my colossal, black hubris.
I kick a stone as I walk home alone,
Struggling to forget the hope I was shown
And accept that I am an ego confined by flesh:
A spirit trapped, and a man depressed.

Why can’t we just love
our differences instead
of trying to be the same?

The past holds the future.
Don’t be chased. Don’t be chained.
Forget it and we tumble.
Go back and make peace.

I wish I would
stay angry
the way they say
I should
But I’ve learned
that letting go
makes me feel so good

© Purple Turtle by Linda Rose
It seems that I have lost my friend.
I must find out where she’s gone.
My name is purple turtle,
and it’s no fun to be alone.
I found myself inside a box
with a lot of noise around,
and then I was lifted to a shelf
where I am sitting now.

Every pain, an imagination
As unreal, as stones fell depressed
Sinking into thin waters
As unreal, as stones raced happy
Rolling upon wet slopes

past hash marks on the stones,
five sets of five, three alone,
she nears the gate
guarded by two words voiced in
innocence, full of hope, trust, love,
not wisely, but too well.

laughing out loud
enjoying the torture
for it stands at a distance

She tried to fit in
She tried everything
But nothing seems to work
No one seems to be fine
Nothing seems to rhyme

I have paused at the mirror and wondered
What image is projected, how am I perceived
Do others accept me in the way that I believe
Do I correctly interpret the looks that I receive.

Reason for a bird’s flight
To propel high above
So by a power
Rise within

Feelings atop a velvet moon
Speaking to sensations unbound
In the cosmos of God’s tune
I slip into another universe
Wearing one more pretension
Yet with my fears I traverse
Holding my scattered emotion

With truth by my side
Why do I doubt
Question the self and hide
Let weeds of mind sprout
With truth in my heart
Why do I spite
Angered and torn apart
Let prejudice come in sight

swinging old tin bucket in time
up and over
avocado with roses not so red
anymore
Sloshing out over the peeling and rust
with each step that pauses between the gaiety
