A washed up image of your former self

by Harry

Submitted by Danielle Tompkins

.

A washed up image of your former self

Is that what you think you are, my dear?

Has all the pain of life stripped you of

Anticipation and sensation, desire and cheer?

Adrift

by Harry

Submitted by colinandray

.

They stepped into the boat.
He took the oars…
And rowed them away from the dock.
A few minutes later,
He put them down…
And the boat just drifted.
***
“A wonderful time to talk”,
At least that was his thought.
With the sound of the water,
And the rhythm of the boat,
Surely this must be the time?
But then his mind just drifted.

but then people came and took their favourite

and never looked back at me bleeding.

The Ancients II

by Harry

Submitted by hitalot879

.

In a poor house under a bridge
staggers three rocks and a current flowing
water trickling down;
horizon in the clouds
a shroud filled with noise
good cause to learn,
they were their from the beginning
certainly until the end

Smoking on

by Harry

Submitted by Sharon bury
.

One evening when my car ran out of petrol Coming home,
I chose to carry on, on foot, uphill and all alone,
Then had to stop atop the brow for I was out of breath
Besides it gave me chance to light another stick of death,
And when with further miles to tred I’d smoked my little treat,
I couldn’t get the air required to mobilise my feet

Prayer for Addicts

by Harry

Submitted by Frederick Calovich

If the devil’s in their heart and head,
Then they already are part of the walking dead,
So if they don’t want to be this way,
Open their hearts and get them on their knees to pray.

Different Flags

by Harry

Submitted by J. M. Galindo

.

We’re at war
and we don’t even know
that our land is now broke in two
with different languages
and different customs
invented by our egotistical minds

Different flags
different ways of selfishness
to prove ourselves
we haven’t grown at all

“A silent walk through the Doré”

by Harry

Submitted by zaroffpoetry

.

We could speak of falling rebel angels
pursuing Death as war.
hilts of gilded spears that pierce sorrowed hearts so very far.
Ravens setting sail from the scythe’s brilliant steel blade.
Christian Armageddon cut off clouds of white hosts,
crying as life passed from soft pale faces.

HOPE

by Harry

Submitted by Frederick Calovich

.

Have you found what you think you have lost?
What has been, do you think the cost?
Since the world seems so full of delight,
Have your ears and eyes been so closed tight?

When you think about these things in kind,
Are there others things that come racing to mind?
Have you been walk-about in a fog or a haze?
Or do you just follow the latest craze?

Hope and glory

by Harry

Submitted by Grant Stone

Corner of the bar
On a busy Saturday night
86 years old
Used to be a beauty
That’s what she tells everyone
Anyone who asks

it’s difficult to tell
Deep ridges covered in foundation
A derelict façade
Like a deserted storefront
in a broken down town
