When I think of times past

Where larders held our next repast

Where mice crept in and rats could play

Leaving droppings on their way

The future is always on my mind and my mind on my future

So what can I do to make my future brighter?

A brighter future would make my heart lighter

A lighter heart would make for a healthier future

 

A healthier future would make for longer life

Life lived well could give way to a more lasting legacy

Envelope me with your love

Pain jabs deep within

Like an icicle sliding in

Rooting it out

Will make the blood spout

And new life begin

Shedding snake skins

Like a snake peeling off old skin

A casing it’s no longer in

We grow uncomfortable

And lose our sparkle
