While the sun shines much too harsh today As I wallow alone in this secluded room The dying rose holds luscious perfume at bay For there’s to be no joy in this present gloom As I wallow alone in this secluded room I ponder ‘what ifs’ had I not ran, but stayed For there’s to be no joy in this present gloom Did your fate have its way in my life charade? I ponder ‘what ifs’ had I not ran, but stayed How different would my scarred life now be? Did your fate have its way in my life charade Or by the hand of God, was my soul set free? How different would my scarred life now be if the dying rose held luscious perfume at bay By the hand of God my soul was set free and still the sun shines much too harsh today

“Just beyond the bruised lips of consciousness.”
from Birds Again
~ Jim Harrison
The stars once bright in eyes now faded and gray
viewing the world through tangled trees
a purple haze of permanent contusions,
amid barren thoughts of rotting leaves
the result of love damaged beyond reason.

A mockingbird crooned his melody
as I sat under a blooming Lilac tree
I closed my eyes and soon drifted away
lulled by soft buzzing of the honeybees.

Your memory is a wilting rose
Fraught with cold moonlight
Red petals weep in silent repose
Mourning its soul’s fated plight.

The Reaper
-Linda Lee Lyberg
Every moment we lose someone
We learn the meaning of sympathy
How grief will hurt and leave us undone
But in it’s place grows sweet empathy.

Day’s Rage
-Linda Lee Lyberg
Divine day rages against dark night
As a fiery sun hangs low in the sky
Sacred light will not run from the fight
Though Mother moon is looming nigh

Marveling at divine creation
In silence, love and sweet grace
Filling my soul with awe and elation.

Even if they appear to be perfection
In truth, all people and souls are flawed .

With the cool hint of Fall in the air
The earth so colorful with flowers adorning
A stone path I stroll without care.
