‘To whom do you bow?’
There’s a blush in the room then
Did I ask that aloud?
The palms you meet before me

If I were a violin Would you play me?
If I keep my strings perfectly tuned
Neither too loose nor too tight
Will you play me?
For I yearn to hear that heavenly music
And yet I’m impatient
For I fear that I have yet to become
The violin you need me to be
And so mistakenly I allow myself to believe
That I can play that music by myself – alone
Sweet child relax

I’ve got it all;
the sunscreen and block,
straw hat with a rim,
sexy sunglasses – check.
My beach bag is full
of my anti-light tools,
the darkness I need
to feel safe and look cool.

To know my body
look to my garden
wild and untamed
with nourishment hidden
in the necessary nurtured places
but no extra flowers or scents
to detract from earthy vitality

to come in pairs,
ask Noah,
so I wondered
where your other half was.

you asked,

Is courage
traveling without a credit card
‘for emergencies only’?
Am I brave if
spontaneously
I jump on a bus
destination unknown,
leaving my mobile behind
to receive only missed calls?

in the silence
last night
I didn’t know
whose door it was
until it opened
I got quite a shock

Home is a cafe
with notebook and pen
where I write my way back
to me again.
No matter how busy
or bustling or loud
I write my way in,
close the door on the crowds.

If sea turns white
when it’s busy
but sparkles blue
‘neath cloudless skies
what colour is it really?
If my feet are a 6
but submerged in sea
they look like a 10
what size are they really then?

burning as the core
shedding sacred light and warmth
with playful flicker roar.
Fire at my centre,

There once was a soul music everyone heard
sung by the rivers, the wind and the birds.
Keeping the beat were the earth and the sun,
warming our hearts with the sound of the drum.
That soul music plays still
within you and me,
but when do we listen?
It’s silent you see.

I am not yours to claim
Therefore claim me not.
Nor am I yours to hoard
therefore share me
with a generous heart
and know:
whatever you adore in me
