Those Old Nomadic Ways
A tiny camper
glimpsed
rushing by on the freeway
away
past other cars
and realities

This is a poem I wrote – year or so ago – about self censorship. Today seems to be an appropriate time to put this on Poet’s Corner because we can’t let it happen.

Poetry challenge: Ice hotel poem.
Eyes So Blue
Your words froze
into air and time.
Breathing into blue
I covered you
with all the love I’d saved

Off The To Do List
This morning
the traffic was stalled.
At the red light
I looked at you.
It had begun to rain

I’ve taken up this triquint poem challenge. I don’t usually do poetry forms so I decided to really torture myself and attempt a triquint.

I deep cleaned the study this afternoon. This is not the chest that inspired me, but we have one like this from David’s family.
Like An Amish Hope Chest
She’s old and worn
chipped but smoothed
rounded edges
faded but red
orange
like a setting sun’s ruby
set in a violet sky
painting a life
with delicate brushings
of usefulness.

Approaching The Garden
When it’s time to water the garden
throw open the gate.
Prepare a path
for fairies and elves
and all things magical.

Still Spring Cleaning In August
In the closet stays
the glittered
Christmas flats
from rituals
of long ago
along with the last
bohemian skirt
mother patched for me
and patched again
– these must remain
untouched
because they are a link
to all that was.
