The Censored Self – A Poem

by Ellespeth

This is a poem I wrote – year or so ago – about self censorship.  Today seems to be an appropriate time to put this on Poet’s Corner because we can’t let it happen.

by Ellespeth

I deep cleaned the study this afternoon.  This is not the chest that inspired me, but we have one like this from David’s family.Like An Amish Hope Chest

like a setting sun’s ruby
set in a violet sky
painting a life
with delicate brushings
of usefulness.

Prepare a path
for fairies and elves
and all things magical.

Still Spring Cleaning In August – A Love Poem

by Ellespeth

Still Spring Cleaning In August

In the closet stays
the glittered
Christmas flats
from rituals
of long ago
along with the last
bohemian skirt
mother patched for me
and patched again
– these must remain
untouched
because they are a link
to all that was.
