So I sit and ponder as I scribe

I assay the situation but there is no change

Still at the bottom of the recesses in my mind

Why can’t I pull out through it?

When I’m so far down that I can’t see light

I slip so easily to that pit without fright

When the day disappears and there’s only night

I cry out to hear Your sweet sound

Encrusted by Easter Ellen

Though she had given all of her heart

to a man she fully trusted

He left her with a broken heart

That stagnated and rusted
