Dreaming of Spring

To commemorate the first day of Spring:  I was looking through my journal and I wrote this one Feb 1st. I’m in the Midwest and this was our worst winter in a very long time – too funny!

I am dreaming of Spring
But buried in snowbanks
Longing for flowers frankly
and the scents that they bring

Shoelaces of Grace

She walks up the steps that stormy day

Black eye tells the story of why she can’t stay

She stands beside me with open hands

A torn tattered life hanging on to

There’s an empty box of Kleenex, she cries out in fear
She stands in disbelief realizing he’s not there
20 years of marriage flushed down the drain
He met up with someone else as she stands numb with pain

Formerly a worm
Crawling on the ground
Now inside cocoon
Change is coming soon
