shadows – poem

by billgncs

in the darkness of the night
beneath a duvet all of white
our hands recited sonnets on our skin

our faces can’t be seen
whispering words we’ll never mean
I ask if I will see you once again

we know that come the dawn
I’ll arise to find you gone
wondering of the power of our dreams

autumn — poem

by billgncs

when caution leaves, abandoned
and each unchoreographed motion
danced sans word or thought
each fibre, each muscle yearns

Two for hot water

cheese – limerick

by billgncs

Poetry challenge: Limerick

the name of a cheese can be daunting
and a mistake with the wine is quite haunting
first a bite and a sip?
or a two fingered dip?
alas for my Epicurean flaunting

pixels — haiku

by billgncs

thoughts sans touch sans heat
no cold density of pixels
substitutes for you

embrace love’s brilliant colors
when the master folds

why be a poet – limerick challenge

by billgncs

When I once decided to post
in order to garner the most
limericks of great hilarity
or poems of love and familiarity
instead I invented compost

more football – limerick challenge

by billgncs

Poetry challenge: Limerick.

the man who is chosen to punt
is usually the size of a runt
he’s small and he’s shifty
with a foot that’s quite nifty
until the big guys succeed in their hunt

fool — poem

by billgncs

Fool to let her go
they chatted later at the pub
not seeing six feet
might be ten thousand miles.
We stop when no word
no twine no chain we own
can ever be strong enough to bind her.

light – – haiku

by billgncs

almost a haiku, hence a noku

darkness quails
against light and laughter
each dawn

accept – – poem

by billgncs

children convinced of childhood’s sweetness
recall scant details that must suffice
wonder at abandoned dreams that surface
whispering what they accepted was never enough

mist – haiku

by billgncs

almost a haiku, a noku

wind battered kite tails
tattered respectability
clouds, just misty dreams
We dream of rain drops
planting tomorrow’s hope
Yet we fear the storm

limerick challenge – ribald

by billgncs

Poetry challenge: Limerick.

with apologies in advance…

anticipation was making her sick
till he said “Darling, I’ll make it quick”
on further inspection
with lack of infection
all she felt was one little prick

fervent – noku

Love approaches prayer
when desire and need touch
summer fades to autumn

feast – poem

by billgncs

I thought sex was love
your taste the feast to save me
your soft utterances the music of my heart
imagine my surprise to discover
the opera had many acts
and I, merely the midnight snack

two for romance – poem – haiku

the melody of words embrace us
each statement a hopeful query
but one finger gentle upon your lips whispers
hush – listen to my body speak

music – poem

by billgncs

I’d always known
the music of your words
that absentminded hum of contentment
as you waltzed through my life
the pattern of your aroused breath
moans of desire shared
could be a symphony
though I sit silently

True love

by billgncs

Poetry challenge: Oxymoron.

We loved forever, but then we stopped
Our hearts, an impenetrable shield, that fizzled and popped
I’ll chase you through the forest as I wait
each morning I’ll be early unless I’m late.
If you only knew my heart you wouldn’t know much

playing for keeps – poem

by billgncs

what inner voice spoke
chanting in the eldest tongue
that day you sprang from bed
incandescent exposure of blush, of desire
breathlessly voicing “My diaphragm.”
The parting kiss of imminent return
lingers into caress and comfort
and journey forgotten I lead you back

summer moon – haiku

by billgncs

At Solstice and Summer’s moon….

beneath summer’s moon
I undress you with my eyes
forever lovely

moonlit eyes, inviting gaze
silk rustles in the cricket’s serenade
goosebumps and indecision

roses – poem

by billgncs

sometimes when the scent of roses
wafts upon the air
with tip-toed stealth
melancholy strides
rhythmically beside me,
the fragrance of youthful love
inevitably destined to fail
