The man in the mirror

by Jem Croucher
The man in the mirror
looks back at me
he is a lot older now
He's seen a few things
but still his heart sings
despite the lines on his brow

Maybe he's wiser
and maybe he's not
it's something I'd not really know
but he'll never leave
his own joie de vivre
so he's happy to go with the flow

The man in the mirror
yes that is still me
though now in my seventh decade
But there's still a lot more
out there in store
so I'm glad that decision was made

For he knows in his heart
with conviction astute
some would say wisdom defines
that life is for living
and always for giving
especially now in these times

So the man in the mirror
with a curl of the lips
gives a wry smile to the world
and with a doff of his cap
for he is a wise chap
tips a wink to the plan now unfurled
