Limericks and Me

by Joel Kravitz

creative process

I wrote this to enter a contest.

I decided not to enter the contest. But I still am proud of my non-entry

I am just a silly old limerick writer
Who wants to make the world a little bit brighter.
Life is not all black and white,
And clever, colorful insight
With wisdom, wit and rhyme makes it lighter.

Bigotry and hate, a source of worry and stress,
Has ignited my creative process,
Now this resister baby boomer
Uses doggerel and humor….
My protest limericks express more with less.

But let me make something clear to you, folks –
Despite the creativity protesting invokes,
Ignorance makes my heart ache,
So, please make no mistake….
I would rather be writing dumb jokes.
