A Back Up On The Horse Limerick

by Joel Kravitz

get back on the horse

Texans are tough. If they get bucked off, they will get right back on the horse and ride again. Their resilience and spirit has gotten them through hurricanes and drought and the ups and down of the oil market. In this case, they didn’t just get bucked off by a weather disaster, they also got “bucked” over by the deregulated electricity industry that puts profits over people who suffered from the lack of requirements to maintain the infrastructure that left Texas in the dark. Now it’s time for the paid off elected officials that created this mess to get paid back for their actions – time to say “adios” to those “pinche” politicians!

This limerick is a take on the most famous speech in the English language. I gave it a Texas twist and turned the Melancholy Dane into a Heartened Cowboy.

So you were riding high in the saddle.
Now you’re up a creek with no paddle.
Tis nobler in the mind
To get off your behind….
And make that Sea of Troubles skedaddle!
