A Bite of Moon

by Venkat

doors melt in my eyes
fishes shiver in fright
if rabbits could count ducks
leaves would spread smiles

colors have no shells
no shells to break
if paints had seeds
the moon would shy

time is the dark
grown by sultry eyes
time is the squirrel
nibbles on uncut freedom

if love is chess
there is no mate
