The world has been through times like this before and mankind has survived. That said, I am a baby boomer who could have never imagined what is happening in the world today. I have seen social and technological change that the two generations before mine could have never imagined. The technological change that has done so much for the health and welfare of world and the way we can communicate could have been the force advancing the social change that would make the world a better place. Sadly, many people think that technology has already done that; many people believe that the social change of the last sixty- years has been significant but, in reality, it has been minimal. Society has not come close to keeping up with technology or utilizing it as much as it could have to affect change. That could not be more evident than it is with the state of the world today. Hopefully, medical technology will give society another chance soon.
Overwhelmed with anxiety, pain, and grief,
We pray science and conscience will bring relief
The most difficult part,
After a broken heart,
Is suspending our disbelief.
But that is exactly what we need to do for science and conscience to have a chance. And our prayers to be answered……
“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”
