On our bird table this morning
a visitor had come
eating all the seed we’d left
in the warming sun
It wasn’t very feathered
and it didn’t have a beak
so I don’t think it mattered
that we had a sneaky peak
So keeping very quiet
we watched him as he munched
eating all we’d left last night
for breakfast and for lunch
No matter, we have plenty more
a big sack waiting there
with more food that the birdies
and the squirrels here can share
