Speaking of Truth

by mkvecchitto

speaking of truth

Truth always speaks to choices made
Whispers of that inner voice weighed
Ghosts play in the morning light
collecting years just out of sight
Oh, the price we paid, price we paid

Now an afterthought, a masquerade
Somehow I’ll carry on your crusade
You’ll be the damsel and I’ll be the knight
speaking to choices made

Risking it all, I serenade
while you lob each grenade
Absence, your dynamite
Your power to control, finite
as each misstep is displayed
Oh, the price we paid
