Early Earl Grey – July 2019

Curled and dry, large leaves glide effortlessly in a breeze as if to be at sea.

Tossed they roll, rise slightly – collide and cluster.  Then to align with the

side of the road.  The rain, incessant, rhythmically dances off

the pane – intensifying in measure – in succession.


It’s another wet day; with muddy white expanse above.  The

cool in the air is penetrating – as much as the dampness.   My

flowers, in my front yard, look hard-pressed and weathered.

Perhaps not welcoming a trying start to their day.  For some,

this is how they will it to be – rather than the sun.  In the

shelter of home my first comfort is savored – earl grey tea.
