Freshly mown grass

by Jem Croucher

Freshly mown grass
the fragrance sublime
right here in the garden
that is Sal’s and mine
It smells of the summer
the sunshine and more
that’s coming our way
with promise in store

So we shall be out here
and making the most
when not at the beach
on the Sussex coast
Our own private haven
for hours to pass
enjoying the smell of
freshly mown grass
