Little Blackbird

The little blackbird is dead
No longer will I wake to the
cheerful song she sang
each morning from
the old oak tree outside
my bedroom window
Oh, but she held a
masterful voice and
a steady tune,
one I counted on
to start my day
I take comfort
in the thought that
her soothing sounds
will live on in
my broken heart

  1. Reblogged this on When the pen takes control. and commented:
How many would notice if they didn’t hear the blackbird sing in the morning, all of us, this captures it magnificently.

  2. Lovely poem celebrating something we take for granted but mourn it’s loss , have re-blogged so others can share.
