Winter’s Nap

by mkvecchitto

nature verse prompt 146 joost daniels

Winter mist
shrouds those cracks in the ice
and so I fall, unforgiven and
cold through that first glass shimmering across the lake
It’s here beneath the surface that I
watch the world go by and
wonder if

Winter’s mist
was made to invite an
afternoon catnap by a crackling
fire in a room still scented with pine and berries
The warmth of hearth and home enough to
chase away this nightmare
Winter Mist
