Leanness of January

by Colly

bird save

A pleated woodpecker ensconced my front tree.

It seems more bird’s, now, want to visit to feed.

Along the feeders rim rest Junco’s – Chickadee.

Winter’s grey lowers to hover over as a canopy.

Young specked Flicker; Collared Dove in need.

For a better meal; their will, perhaps, to entreat.

Meager seeds offered to satisfy an empty soul?

What then – leave it to the tiny birds we know?

  1. How fun! Of course, I am a bird lover!

  2. I love this! I can’t wait for spring and hear the birds singing in the mornings.
