Autumnal Sun

by Jem Croucher

I went back to the beach
though the summer was done
But there was still a warmth
in the autumnal sun
The sea was the same
with the waves a deep blue
reflecting the sky
with its colour and hue

And the peace and the solitude
down there with the sun
was perfect I’d say
with my working day done
So I sat there a while
and reflected that this
is where my contentment
borders on bliss
