SURRENDER

by thereluctantpoet

The Last Act
Of A Broken Heart
Is Surrender,
A Final Letting Go
Of A Love That Has Died

The Last Breath
Exhaled
From A Life
That Used To Be
But Is No More

Sweet Dreams
From The Past
Released
Into A Midnight Sky
Never To Return

Memories And Secrets
Locked Safely Away
In A Hidden Cell
Far From A Soul
Yearning To Be Free

It Has Been A Battle
Fighting For A New
And Better Life
In The Future
Instead Of Clinging
To Yesterday’s Now
In A Foolish Hope
Of Turning Back Time

The Last Act
Of A Broken Heart
Is Surrender,
A Final Letting Go
Of A Love That Has Died

So Time Can Heal
The Hurting And Pain
As It Slowly Mends
A Broken Heart
For A Better Life
And A True Love

  1. “Yesterday’s now…” I like that. I also like your first stanza, and the fact that you repeat it toward the end. This poem connects with me.

  2. This was a quiet beauty, so beautiful so heart touching♥️♥️
