Innocent

Clothes on the drying line

dripping and swayed away by the winds

they are empty

there is no fullness

no body

as the soul is missing

but

the sleeves are stained wet with the

dried cracked blood

of the kid

who got crushed under your feet

in the riot yesterday

  1. This struck me oddly heavily at the end. Very nicely done. 👌🎩

  2. Bigger questions hide here. Who would do such a thing? Salvage or Savage? The conscious act of rinsing would not purge such tragedy. So when this piece of clothing was hung out to dry, what was the intended purpose? How did the child get caught up in rioting? Was it a stampede for justice? This is a fine piece it got me thinking at least. Chris T.

    • Thanks so much Chris for reading it intently.
I wanted to bring out the heinous nature of the mankind who claims ignorance to the lives of the innocent people getting killed in the riots when they think they are voicing their opinion through violence
