Typhoon 7

by Nick Anthony

Why don’t you come back?
The day is not yet dawning,
The sun has yet to start shining,
And as far as I’m concerned,
There’s no evidence it ever will.
So why not come back to bed?

Why don’t you come back?
Dark grey clouds still cover the sky
Which has been sobbing since yesterday,
And shows no sign of stopping soon.
Mother Nature is under the weather,
So why not call in sick today?

Why don’t you come back?
The wind yet howls and wails
Warnings to seek safety and shelter
Beside me, under our cloudy covers,
Out of the torrential typhoon-waters.
So why not escape to our bunker?

Why don’t you come back?
And we’ll hide from the stormy world,
Tucked away and warm under cozy covers.
And I’ll keep you safe in my arms
As we drown out the wind with our passion.
So why not come back to me?

  1. I shivered while reading the 3rd stanza. The wind howled around the corner of our house at the exact time. 🙂 Good read.
