If You Could Break Me

by Renwick Berchild

If you could break me
how many pieces would you strive for?

A split in two,
have me broken down into fourths,
a complete s h a t t e r i n g –

How much? How much am I worth,
how much rage is in your fists,
how much hatred is in your arms,
how much
is a dismantled life
to you.

If you could mend me
how many stitches do you think it would take?

Twenty five,
twenty hundred,
twenty one thousand,
is there enough of me, to mend.

  1. Powerfully written…

Your words render a voice to many of those interrogative feelings, suppressed. It now escapes me, leavening me wondering what happened to the answers….

    Loved it. ❤ ❤
