A Child’s World

by kim blades, writer

An adult’s heaven is more remote than a child’s

more faded

a mockery rather than a haven

looked at with an analytic eye

from a world much smaller than a child’sa world that has no centre

and one that is heavy with subterfuge.

A child’s heaven is his own childhood world

bright and musical

full of mystery, magic and play

and the sweet, pretty joy of innocence,

a vast dew-pearled meadow full of flowers

safely centred and never ending –

a world where tree tops touch the sky.
