An “As We Begin Year Two of Trump” Limerick

by Joel Kravitz

It has been quite a while since I wrote a political limerick. I’ve been like many other Americans, unable to suspend my disbelief that Donald Trump was elected President of the United States and hoping that I will awake from this nightmare and find that it was just a bad dream. The worst dream I, or any other truly patriotic American who loves this country for what it stands for could ever have. We have a President who wants to take away our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms and deny most Americans of their inalienable rights. He seduced so many with his populist rhetoric and got them to vote for him. And after he seduced them, he implemented a political agenda to screw the very people who put him into power.

Hopefully, America will do what it has always historically done, a 180 degree reversal and restore the guiding principles that make America the great nation that it is so that all Americans can enjoy Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

But until that starts to happen, we are still living the nightmare. And that led to this…..

History soon will take note
That “close your eyes, hold your nose and vote,”
And then hope and pray
At the end of the day….
For America, it won’t be all she wrote!

It ain’t looking good going into year two of our country’s demonic possession but we still America’s Holy Water to drive out the demon – the power of Democracy compels us.
