Do we do?

Note the position of the word *do* in each line

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

do we grow bones of mind
or do we mow grime off thoughts
did they do life for horses
or did they do eyes for our hands

could we will, to do our own span
or could we will, to do the skies
the swans swim, till lillies can do stand
worlds whirl, pained on flaps, as wings do in missions
our feet paint in colors as do rainbows
locked in eclipsed minds, neighbors do their dream
in iced nooses, words do songs of fire
hung on strings, do homes stick
in cards do we shuffle our egos
or do bones carry our meanings
do we have to grow eyes to be blind
