PLAYING THE FIELD

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

Playing the field
was not my desire
it seemed rather risky
like playing with fire

Pushing until
you’ve crossed over the line
hearts end up broken
most likely mine

love’em and leave’em
that’s not how I felt
it wasn’t a game
or a notch on a belt

Playing the field
a playground for thrills
the chase and the conquest
the score and the kills

Playing the field
when are you through
once you have learned
does it stop with “I do”?

  1. Brillian poem Chuck. And to answer the question at the end of the poem – in my experience the answer is ‘No.’

    • Kim, you make me blush! Thanks so much for your kind comment! I really appreciate you answering that question – and I totally agree with you! What is the wallpaper on your site? Oh, yeah, lepoards with spots – that they cannot change??? Ha!
