By Charles Robert Lindholm
I have not placed
ink on my skin
for everyone to see
the forever of ink
is on my heart
and on my soul
and only for me to see
the remembered words
you told me
the words I could not speak,
but that had to be heard,
they made feelings
in my heart and soul
that had to be shown
to eyes
that were brave enough
to see,
to read,
eyes,
caring enough
to understand
I have placed ink
on paper
and drawn
attention
to the feelings
to the truth
about life
and love
and heartache
and joy
I have painted pictures
in ink,
on paper
for you to see
even though I’m not
an artist
I used my words
It’s not about me
or my skin
Ink on paper
will remain
after I return
to dust
You will know
and you will see
the forever ink
that was
inside of me
The words
I could not speak
but that had to be
heard
that were on my
heart and soul
