GHOST TOWN

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

it used to be

alive

it used to be

home

but the winds of time

have changed it

it stands empty

and alone

a witness

to the past

a relic

of yesterdays

built

on hope and dreams

slowly

it decays

melting

in the midday sun

cracking

in the cold

haunted

is the ghost town

of a love

that’s very old

the memories

stand like monuments

to feelings

I still hold

lasting

like the legends

and the stories

we’ve been told

there’s a love

within my heart

but it’s hidden

down so deep

and a ghost town

somewhere

in my soul

built with

memories I still keep
