WATERCOLOR WORDS

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

watercolor words
washing across
the white of an 8 1/2 by 11
piece of paper
changing it’s color to blue

tears wet the paper
as “our” memories
run through my mind
images captured in time

feelings that brightened my life
like colors on a palette
            joy
            happiness
            laughter
            contentment
            caring
            sharing
                        and
                                    love

a heart full of feelings for you
coloring our life
blended together into
a watercolor masterpiece
painted with days together
            you
                        with
                                     me

our days
were our brushes
but they’re gone
used up
the feelings on our palette
vanished

our painting’s unfinished
but still beautiful
it’s time to put
this watercolor away

time to start another
that’s new
one that’s different
            from
                        you

  1. Absolutely love this Chuck. One of the best you’ve posted. Keep them coming!

    • Jem, thanks so much for your generous comment! This means a lot to me since you have lots of views to compare it too! I do love the comparison of writing poetry to painting a picture. Thanks so much for being a consistent supporter of my works!!!
