CHEAP SHOTS

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

cheap shots
hitting below the belt
unfair fighting
in an effort to win

to be in control
to keep me off balance
unable to see
that hurting me
hurts us
and we inch further apart

the wounds and cuts
heal
but there’s scarring
on the heart
