By Charles Robert Lindholm
he’s finally home from work
and she meets him at the door
she greets him with a smile and kiss
like she’s always done before
she wraps her arms around him
while he stands frozen to the floor
he hasn’t got a hunger
though she is starved for more
she has an inner longing
but he chooses not to care
he feels no need for bonding
as long as she’s just there
she feels a burning in her heart
it’s filled with such desire
and so she’s forced to give her love
to those who want a fire
she lights a thousand hearts
children, family, friends
though no beloved fills her up
when the day is done and ends
she goes to sleep in silence
lonelier than if alone
she prays about the pain she feels
but ignores the signs she’s shown
not wanting to accept the truth
her heart so long has known
