I COULD TELL

by thereluctantpoet

By Midwest Fantasy and Charles Robert Lindholm

A day of happy
took my hand
and held it
IN A SPECIAL WAY
DIFFERENT THAN EVER BEFORE

THERE WAS AN EXCITEMENT
IN HIS VOICE
I’D NEVER HEARD
AS HE WHISPERED
TODAY IS THE DAY
FROM NOW ON
WE WILL BE TOGETHER
FOREVER
THROUGH EVERY MOMENT
OF EVERY DAY

I WASN’T SURE
BUT HE PROMISED

I didn’t let go
until the moon
kissed my cheek
AND THEY INTRODUCED ME
TO YOU
THE SOULMATE
MY HEART HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR
THAT MY SOUL HAD LONGED FOR

FROM THE VERY FIRST SMILE
AND YOUR SWEET HELLO
AND A WELCOME EMBRACE
AND KISSES AND MORE
I COULD TELL
WE WERE MEANT TO BE
and I knew
I was loved
AND ALWAYS WOULD BE
LYING IN YOUR ARMS
AND HOLDING YOU IN MY HEART
FOREVER
