august.

by Tejaswini

in gold painted towns,
an obtuse sun chases
people indoors.

berries, ripe, fall
to the ground longing
for a mouth or two.
dragonflies bask
in sweet summer glory,
wings outstretched.
bumblebees revel
in flourishing blooms,
hard work lies ahead.

why then, do we
scurry for a roof,
when the party is outside?
