By Charles Robert Lindholm
she lives a life of splendor
with white knights and prancing steeds
while I live like a vagabond
content to meet my needs
the princess lives in fairy tales
high romance and fantasy
while I have chosen simply
to face the day’s reality
a picture perfect world
she has nothing out of place
she’s the center of attention
and they bow down to her grace
my world’s somewhat different
the truth is in plain sight
my castles are the mountains
and the stars my guiding light
the princess and the vagabond
in love but sadly doomed
it didn’t last forever, but
it was wonderous while it bloomed
