OUR LAST DANCE

by thereluctantpoet

By Charles Robert Lindholm

We started our Last Dance
five years ago
when we got the final diagnosis
we were dreading to hear

It’s been a marathon dance
of memories since then
but our last dance
has been to a sad medley
of the blues

The music has stopped playing now
and our last dance is over
too soon for my heart
too soon for my soul
too soon for me to be

living without You
