Metamorphosis

by markfahmy

metamorphosis

Can a cigarette warm
the coldness of a soul
that stopped giving a damn
about it all?

Can a touch restore
the blood into the veins
of a body that’s been buried
under a million chains?

Can life be reinstilled
into someone who is dead
with a beating heart
that for countless years has bled?

Can something ever
come and change
what has already been fixed
and can never be rearranged?
