Flowers for Mother
She picked the petals
One by one,
Tossed them ‘neath
A sultry sun,
A waft of wind
Carried them away;
As Mother
Received an earthly bouquet
A sorrow-filled daughter,
Here, earthbound
Picked herself
Up from the ground…
Recalling words her Mother
Once said:
“Death has no hold on memories,
when I am gone, that’s where you’ll find me;
the mind is a garden full of delight –
search my daughter with all your might,
and cast away all thoughts of sorrow
we’ll meet again in tomorrow’s, morrow”.
