Produce (aka ‘Allotment V’)

by Jem Croucher

Imagine our amazement
when this evening on Ham Field
we discovered our allotment
had delivered its first yield
Some courgettes and a squash or two
which in the sunshine haven’t lingered
Leading us to think that we
may well be quite green-fingered!

Incredible what nature does
in just a month or two
With some sunshine and some water
and some work from you know who
And there’s a lot more growing
which, whilst we’re fit and able
will provide a lot more vegetables
to grace our kitchen table
