By Charles Robert Lindholm

I wake up suddenly

in the middle of the night

or is it morning

before the dawn’s early light

Dragged from deep, deep sleep

I try to hold onto

the bits and pieces

of mixed up memories

in a jumbled up dream

Pieces of the past

stuck to bits of fantasy

tumbling around in my mind

to the sound of distant thunder

Far away memories

stalk me in the night

with wishes and fantasies

in jumbled up dreams
