Little Lavenders

by Jem Croucher

We bought some little lavenders
they arrived once in the post
Came as little seedling plugs
in compost, playing host
At first they were quite tiny
but we put them in the sun
And even though they’re still quite small
I think the time has come

As they’re destined for a special plot
on our allotment near the peas
where they will prosper in the sun
attracting welcome bees
And I’ll keep an eye on how they do
and perhaps once in a while
take a pic and write some words
about them for a smile
