Memorial Day Rhyme

by Rhyme In Time

For celebrators of the holiday in the U.S., and for those who serve or are close to those who serve anywhere:

Today is more than just a holiday,
A Monday off to open summer season–
To honor those who’ve fallen is the reason,
Who gave the greatest gift beyond repay.

For who, sans liberty, can libertine?
Who openly express unless unbound?
Wherever free society be found
There too have countless sacrifices been.

Throughout our whirling planet is no land
Can stand for long but answers duty’s call.
Remember those who gave to us their all:
Upon their memories our freedoms stand.

To those who in their duty suffer fall,
May gratitude and love pour from us all.
