The Vermillion Imperative

by Harry

Submitted by Aurora Phoenix

.

In wordless scarlet reproach
the directive is dropped
seed from beak to beak

Scatter the gloom in bushels and pecks
bill the pain to the past
wing the future notes

Onyx-eyed simplicity demands
broken-winged or fluttering
“Arise, fly, sing!”
