White Rose

by kim blades, writer

The rose bush is tall and statuesque

its leaves a lustrous dark green

the branches firm and thorny20161221_080129

but most captivating of all

are the rose blossoms’

large curving petals

of a pure flawless white

holding their shape

for many days

even in the summer heat,

her name is Memoire

and she is a beauty

unsurpassed.
